Birmingham is serving up another seriously good weekend, with global music stars, a final chance to catch one of the city’s biggest musicals, artisan shopping, free family events and the closing weekend of Birmingham Heritage Week. Whether you’re planning a full weekend in the city or simply looking for somewhere different to spend a few hours, here’s The Birmingham Edit’s pick for Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September.
Birmingham Goes Big on Heritage
This is the final weekend of Birmingham Heritage Week, and there are some particularly good events still to catch.
One of the highlights is the new Brum Transport Festival, taking over Victoria Square, Centenary Square and other city-centre locations on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th September, 11am–5pm.
Expect classic and iconic cars, historic buses, museum displays and a special Birmingham Superprix exhibition celebrating the city’s motorsport past. There’ll also be a live stage, talks and family activities — and it’s completely free.

Shop Independent in the Jewellery Quarter
Saturday morning is a good time to head for the Jewellery Quarter, where the Jewellery Quarter Artisan Market brings independent makers, artists and food traders together.
Held on the third Saturday of each month, the market offers everything from handcrafted jewellery and artwork to homeware, artisan food and gifts — exactly the sort of place where you arrive intending to browse and leave carrying three bags.

Ozzy, Joe Lycett and a Brilliant Birmingham Gallery Day
Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery is especially worth visiting this weekend.
Ozzy Osbourne (1948–2025): Working Class Hero is approaching its 27th September closing date, while Joe Lycett’s first major solo art exhibition, EVERY THING MUST GO, continues alongside Watch Us Lead by Christopher Samuel.
Sunday also brings Marvellous Makers, a free drop-in creative session from 11am–3pm, making BMAG an easy choice for families looking for something inexpensive to do.

Discover One of Birmingham’s Hidden Gems
For a very different Sunday, head towards Harborne for the Moor Pool Heritage Festival.
Taking place from 11am–3pm on Sunday 20th September, the free event opens up Birmingham’s remarkable Arts and Crafts garden suburb with live performances, demonstrations, brass-band music and traditional activities including bowling, tennis, snooker and Edwardian skittles.
There’s also a guided estate walk at 2pm, although places are limited and allocated on the day.
